Biographical Information

Pamela Nance & Ashley Field formed Spirit Hunters of the South in 2008.  Since that time, they have conducted field-work at approximately 70 historic sites & properties throughout the mid-Atlantic & southern United States.  Over time, they developed a paranormal investigative model based on research methodologies from anthropology, archaeology & history.   Extensive historical research is conducted to identify the following: the site’s occupants; catastrophes such as war, famine, disease; diet; daily life & any other historic information that is applicable to the site and the surrounding area.  Once these layers are identified, a timeline of occupancy is constructed.  The timeline is then used to construct an ethnographic profile which directs the most effective line of questioning during the investigation.  The team will present their methodology and the paranormal evidence from 10 historic southern sites.

Jane & Doug Anderson are the founders of Port City Paranormal (2005).  With degrees from Forsyth College, Bowman Gray and the University of N.C. at Wilmington, they have a solid background in psychology and the physical sciences, and are currently continuing our studies in parapsychology with the Rhine Research Center.

The team is dedicated to the search for evidence of the continuation of consciousness after death. Port City Paranormal is a non-provoke group. Their mission is to enhance the quality of paranormal investigation and research, to educate the public and provide a high standard of professional excellence through our unparalleled services.

Steve Barrell, executive director for Haunted North Carolina has been investigating ghosts for over 8 years.  His interest in hauntings began around age 11, when he learned that his grandparents' house in Brooklyn was haunted. He began reading everything he could find on the subject.  At 14, after reading Hans Holzer's accounts of some New York City ghosts, he traveled alone into Manhattan to visit two of the haunted sites, where he  actually asked residents if he could visit the rooms where the ghosts were.

Interest in parapsychological investigation was renewed in 2006, when he joined an amateur group that visited haunted places, and learned about the use of technology to document and record phenomena. He has a  Master's degree from Duke University, is a certified hypnotherapist, and the facilitator for the Rhine Dreams Study Group.
